The Peekaboo Braid

With summer approaching everyone is looking for something new.  Well here is an easy spin on the old.  Braids are everywhere!  But most of us don't like to hassle with trying to braid our own hair.  However this is EASY!  A basic braid incorporated into your everyday style.  Give it a try :)

The Dream of Long Hair

Well, like most women I want to look like a Victoria Secret model. And we all know what their best attribute is....no silly not their boobs, although I wouldn't complain about that one either....their hair! Fabulously thick and long and shiny and and and. So I spent 3 or 4 hours having these put in my hair. Then another two weeks to decide they weren't going to kill me. So I loved how they looked but like a beautiful pair of high heels decided that i needed to kick them off after only four weeks. Now I am sad and have thin short hair. But here you are a look at the before and afters.

Pregnancy and hair color

So is it safe or not to color your hair during pregnancy? First of all I am not a doctor so if you trust your doctor than please by all means listen to what they tell you. However the problem lies in the fact that the ingredients in hair color are always changing....therefore it is too hard for any actual tests to be performed. But on that note it is highly unlikely that any chemical is actually absorbed through the skin. The fumes however can be breathed in...I would recommend to use a non ammonia color or at least make sure they are in foils so the fumes are minimal.
BUT as a color specialist it is however tricky sometimes to color a pregnant or breastfeeding women. Is it the hormones, the extra vitamins, or the stress that makes it a challenge? I'm not sure. I have observed that it tends to be brassy and pull orange and red tones. Not always a bad thing unless you like a more ash or neutral look. I can't compensate for the warm tones because not all pregnant women have this problem...It's kinda a trial and error thing. So if it were me? I would not wait till the last minute for a color just in case you need to do some tweaking.

Go Glasses

So I have been on a quest for new glasses.......I've had the same pair for years. Time for a change. I've been researching for the pair that I have so carefully designed in my head. But....fail! So I'm trying to decide if the new trend of "geeky" girl glasses is a go? What's your thoughts? Can I pull it off?

Dark and Dipped

So I tried my artistic hand at dipping dark ends instead of blonde. We didn't want to cause any unnecessary damage to her hair so I chose the route of coloring hair extensions.
I started out by lifting at least four inches of the ends until they were a gold color. Any more lift and the extensions would start to fall apart. Then I colored the top half copper and the bottom half red.

Finally, adding the extensions to her hair....and then the finished product. A Fun way to add a little pop of color to your hair. Inspiring trends,

Season for Change
We've all lost our sunkissed faces to the colder weather and so....time for a change. Generally I suggest warming it up a bit and going darker. Steer away from too dark of shades that will actually pale you even more. Let's take a little vote.....I know she looks great before, (I did that color too), but tis the season we all need a little boost. So what's better for fall? Let me know your thoughts.

Dipped Tips

Lots of Celebrities are popping up with the newest trend of "dipped tips." Definitely not recommended for the color shy client, but wow its actually really fun!!
Pictured here is Lauren Conrad after her followers of her blog voted for her to take the plunge and so of course she did. The look is rockin!
One of the perks is that it is short lived.....its semi permanent and only going to last for a little while, as well as, looking even cooler as it fades.

It also can be done a little more subtle. The picture to the right, Lauren Conrad again, is soft peach tones at the end. Beautiful. Just another spin on the newer trend Ombre. I love doing ombre because it is such a lived in comfortable look. Plus with our busy lives it is so much easier to maintain than a full head of highlights.

I know this look isn't for everyone, but if you want to spice it up and turns some heads....I'm ready to inspire trends.
